Amwell Township Announces Comprehensive Planning, Zoning, and SALDO Ordinance Updates Project

Amwell Township is updating its Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). This project will help shape the future growth and development of the Township, ensuring that the community remains vibrant, sustainable, and adaptable to the needs of residents and businesses.

During the next 12 months, the Township will work with Strategic Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based planning firm, to gather input, assess existing policies, and develop a strategic vision for the Township’s future. Local officials and community members will guide the project to ensure it accurately reflects the values and priorities of the Township.

Starting this month and continuing through the summer, the project team will engage the Amwell community through surveys and a public event (to be announced). Amwell Township residents, businesses, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate and help shape the future of Amwell Township.

Following this initial stage, the Township and its consultant will hold planning sessions to address key topics of the Comprehensive Plan, such as land use, housing, infrastructure, and economic development. During the second half of 2025 and into 2026, the team will update zoning and subdivision ordinances that will enable the Township to implement recommendations and changes resulting from these planning processes.

The project will conclude with public hearings, reviews by the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors, and the formal adoption of the updated documents in spring of 2026.
